The Harvest Begins!

This Wednesday we went to the garden to see what was growing. Last week we got our first peas and some monster radishes (I hadn't been in a few weeks). So this week we picked quite a few peas, some normal radishes, and our first zucchini squash. I was also excited to see some of my tomatoes turning red. Unfortunately some of our tomatoes have end rot but I am hoping with the amount we have growing we will get several good ones. Tonight we were able to eat some of the tomatoes and a zucchini in a great garden meal. The kids are very excited to see the work of our family paying off in the garden. They are thrilled when we go and pick some new vegetables and to see what is coming up (its great because they are so excited that they willingly weed and pick the veggies!)

Seeing the results of a garden just changes attitudes. I remember wanting to weed more as a kid when I start to actually see things grow. It becomes fun.
